The recent period at Sotera Fire Engineering has been an exciting one, marked by the arrival of several talented new team members.
We’re delighted to welcome Ceris as our new Operations and Business Support Manager. With over 12 years of experience in the construction industry across Australia and New Zealand, Ceris brings a wealth of expertise in operations management and building compliance auditing. Her background includes managing operations for an electrical engineering company and auditing commercial and residential building compliance for councils in New Zealand. Her professionalism, and approachable nature make her a wonderful addition to the Sotera team.
We also warmly welcome two new Fire Engineers, Thani and Chamodi.
Thani is currently pursuing a PhD in Civil Engineering at the Queensland University of Technology, focusing on the bushfire safety of buildings. He combines a background in fire, structural, and building engineering across both industry and academia. He has hands-on experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modelling using the Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) for fire spread and material pyrolysis. His skills will make a significant contribution to our team’s work.
Chamodi is another valuable addition to the growing Sotera team. She recently completed her PhD in Structural Engineering at the University of New South Wales, where her research focused on applying machine learning to blast engineering predictions. She brings experience in structural engineering, finite element analysis (FEA) and python programming, along with research and development experience in industry, where she contributed to the development of innovative fire insulation and fire-resistant adhesive systems.
At Sotera, we take pride in being a place where talented professionals can grow, innovate, and thrive. With a strong pipeline of diverse and challenging projects, we’re excited to see our new colleagues embark on rewarding and impactful careers with us.
